At the same time our constitution protects citizen's rights with the First Amendment which protects the rights to peaceably assemble, speak freely, and petition the government. These rights are understood to encompass the ability to protest against a government that is not following the Constitution. The Declaration of Independence also states that it is the right of the people to overthrow a government that becomes destructive to their rights, though this is a philosophical principle, not a part of the current Constitution. And we have a rogue mafia posing as our government that no longer even attempts to follow the constitution. For example: The Constitution grants the power to declare war solely to Congress in Article I, Section 8. The President is designated as the Commander-in-Chief in Article II, giving them the authority to lead the military once Congress has declared war or authorized the use of force. This separation of powers divides the responsibility between the legislative branch, which can initiate conflict, and the executive branch, which directs the military.
