This situation is created by BAD politics. 1. A refusal to establish a livable minimum wage. (IMO this should be tied to the cost of living index. When the cost of living goes up then minimum wage is automatically raised by the same percentage. That would eliminate 30 years of stagnant wages while people fight over whether to raise the minimum wage or not. 2. Not enough affordable housing provided.
